Patriots (PK) and first half under 24 One thing about Super Bowls is they don't tend to start with a bang.
NBA picks: Saturday, March 8
Knicks (PK) at Cleveland
A case of two teams moving in opposite directions, the Knicks seem to have finally righted themselves after an ugly 2-13 stretch. New York is fresh off wins over the Wolves and Jazz, both in impressive fashion. The Cavs, meanwhile, have hit a wall since a six-game win streak had them sniffing the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. J.R. Smith has helped the mini resurgence, shooting 50 percent (12-for-24) in the two games. Cleveland, meanwhile, is just 2-6 over its last eight, including a 1-3 mark at home and three straight losses overall. The Knicks know they’ll have to first leapfrog the Cavs if they want to ultimately grab that eight seed. New York is currently one game back of Cleveland, making this a prime opportunity to make some headway in the playoff picture.
Milwaukee (+8) vs. Washington
The first lean when getting significant points with a home ‘dog is to take the points. Factor in the Bucks have played the Wizards tough this season, splitting a pair of overtime contests in December, and it’s further cause to side with the home team. Milwaukee has also played better of late, going 4-2-1 against the number in its last seven, and 10-4-1 since the beginning of February. Included in that run are four outright wins, not too shabby for a team that ripped off a 2-18 stretch just before that.
Overall picks: 8-9-2
